haha that's the ONLY time I've been stung by a bumblebee too! When i caught one as a kid. I had one cuddle up to my face one night when I was sleeping but I just scared it when I woke up. Bumblebees are the least scary stingy bugs I think. Sounds like you made them angry!
I think you had a little mercy on us in drawing the hive for the honeycomb, if it was a bit more detailed I'd get goosebumps of disgust, as it is though the longer I look the more grim it becomes. Nice piece.
This reminds me of The Secret World. It's an MMO where you gain powers by swallowing a bee from the realm of Agartha, the World Tree at the center of the Earth. It's about as disturbing as you'd expect.
The game is really quite good. It is more story-based than most MMOs, and it has these wonderful quests where you get a very simple clue and you have to actually think to come up with the solution. They might tell you to research a fire that happened in a certain year, but YOU have to put the dots together and figure out that the documents are in the public records folders in the town hall. Needless to say, it's quite fantastic and if you're into games like that I suggest it.
Cool, quit interesting thought process. I can see how one would develop such a fear for bees if you had an experience like that. Personally I would like to try and draw more of this kind of surrealistic and slightly horror type stuff. Kind of like the monsters and situations in the silent hill series or stuff like the art of Zdislaw Beksinski. I love that kind of art but I guess I don't have the imagination for it or something, I can never think of cool designs like this. Anyway, congratulations on the DD
Same. I'd really like to do more macabre surrealistic stuff. I like the idea of mixing beauty and beastly things. It can be good venting too. I've been stopping myself though because I don't want to concern people? It's not really something you can show some folks. haha Maybe I shouldn't stop myself IDK.
Not sure I could do the crazy SH monsters, those are always damn impressive! Zdislaw Beksinski's stuff is amaaaaazing.
I bet you could do it. I think your skills could be really suited to some strange Dali-eque uneasy landscape type stuff if that makes any sense.
